Patch Fix Keyboard Rf Modulator
I recently brought out my big brothers old Atari ST 520 (not sure which model, but it has a disk drive and RF out). Anyways, he's made some kind of lame solution cause sometime in the past he's broken the video out. And what he did was make some cables stick out (2 in fact) which I yesterday tried connecting to my TV, and yes I got a signal, however it was like ants war filter was applied on.
Really difficult to get any signal at all. Anyways, I would like to repair this, so today on lunch I'm buying a female connector, solder pen, some solder and I would like to know if there's any special tip on how I'm supposed to make things work? From what I could tell when I opened up the Atari ST yesterday night, big bro had soldered one cable on the top to the right of a small box which used to have the tv out (rf modulator?). And the other cable I have no idea how it was connected, cause it was loose when I opened op the Atari ST.
So anyways, I see some small metalstuff sticking out from the top inside the hole where the female connector sat. What do I do? I'm going to post some pictures tonight when I get home. Also I would appreciate any tips on where I could buy some cheap TAC-2. I tried blocket.se and tradera.se (swedish sites) but didn't really find one at the perfect price. Of course, then need cable with Atari 13-pin connector. But you probably can make it self. Yeah my TV has scart input/RCA. However buying connectors are really expensive. It(:13-pin connector:) cost like $2 but with shipping and additional fees it's up to $26. Pretty insane, no? Additional questions.

I have a midi keyboard, will I be able to use it for my Atari ST somehow? Could you give examples on what I could do with the midi out port? Elrinth wrote:Additional questions. The short answer is that you can use programs on the Atari such as Cubase and Notator which will communicate directly with your keyboard and play music/sounds. So instead of playing a keyboard with your hands, you are programming a set of notes, pauses and instruments into Cubase (or whatever you use) which will be sent to your keyboard and it will pay it for you.
You can also use midi sequencers, drum machines etc. For midi answers (and programs) you can try this great site. Rat boy wrote:Could be that the origional RF connector snapped off, and your bro bypassed with a lead, by soldering to the (now empty) broken socket? So the extension would work? Then the TV would need tuning into the correct frequency. But without a picture, impossible to say. Yes the original RF connector prolly snapped off!
Well I made it work yesterday, but I would really like to fit in the connector female into the hole there. Here's a video of what I've succeeded with so far. Today I'm buying a glue gun to make sure the connector stays put. Thanx for telling me what I could use the midi out for.
I probably won't have much use of that. But I'll definatly try the Midi In!
